Subwoofer in Cab, or outside

I know this has been tackled before but I've got an 8" Sub on my logitech speaker system.....I dont know if just leaving it in the cab will make it sound too BOOMY, or if its smarter for me to mount it outside, OR have it fire out ofone of the sides of the cab.

Opinions?

I just built a jukebox with the subwoofer in the cabinet.  It is large compared to the overall size of the cabinet and at high volume tends to vibrate the backpanel of the cabinet.  The complete area in front of it is open and covered with cloth but it moves alot of air.  I think I can cut down on the vibration by driving more screws and using some deadening material but it is extra work.

I would try it in your cab and see if it causes bothersome vibrations before commiting to mounting it permanently.  My guess is that the subwoofers are designed to sit in open air.

If it causes vibration in the cabinet but it would be preferred to keep it concealed ideally, why not port it through the back of the cabinet so it's blowing out the back, and can be exposed or cloth covered either way and not take from the look of the cabinet from the front

it's probably different for every cab and sub combination - i say, try it in the cab, if you don't like it, move it out of there...

Ive got the creative inspire 2.1's. SPeakers mounted behind the marquee, sub in the bottom rear of the cabinet. The sub's got an adjustable level control so I fired up asteroids, held down thrust, and turned the sub down when the cabinet stopped vibrating. It's stil la little heavy in some games but I typically play it loud anyway so it blends nicely, and for WinAmp Ive got the EQ tuned to drop some of the bass.

If the sub's not adjustable, there may be a software/driver way to adjust the sub output, otherwise yeah, you can try going out a hole in the back
