Pop Quiz: Name this Pac Man
hsstie:
Here is some pics, I've looked in my mame and in klov can't match it up.
I thought it was a pirate copy till i looked at the pcb, it says midway mfg under that dust:
Sorry bout the blurry pics, my camera isn't the best.
WareWolF:
Probably just a hacked rom installed as an "upgrade" on a Midway board.
Some operator probably put it in because he thought the original game was too easy.

I saw that one at the RIR auction and thought the same thing. Also thought the buy it now price was insane for a bootleg and walked away.
So did you end up getting it? If so (and you don't mind me asking), what did it go for?
I really wanted the hogans alley machine, but the owner wouldn't sell it on friday. I read it went for $35 the next day, but i dunno if it was bought back or not.

Dump the eproms from row 5 and 6 and then run the images through Widel's latest RomIdent file and you should find a match. If not, you have something rare (worth something.. thats another story, as clearly it is just a 'prom hack). Someone will be interested I'm sure.
Also you could check Jerkys and the other guys who do / catalog all of the pac-hacks and see if you spot something there. There are over 100 pac hacks out there.
You can also check with Widel or Mike (the 96-in-1 guys) and see if they recognize it. Good luck.
And before someone guesses, no, it's not Hangly Man.. that has round medians all over the center. No round ones on this screenshot anywhere.

Yea i picked it up at RIR.
I ended up paying 495 for it at the buy it now part of the show. ( Wasn't around for the auction part ) knowing it had issues. I looked in the cab and made sure it had the mfg name on the pcb before i bought it so it wasnt a 48 in 1 or simialr bootleg.
Clearly, i could have done better ,depending on how long i wanted to wait for another one but looking at what it would have cost me to get another pacman cabinet with originial pcb with shipping i could have done alot worse also. It plays fine, just a bit fast, and the board is odd...but hey its fun (isn't that the important part ?) All my friends that played it so far are not complaining ;D
The cabinet didnt have any coin mechs, found a small sign in the coin box that said "out of order wont take money".
I put in some coin mechs i had and works fine. Needs a new coin door lock no biggie, monitor bezel missing also no big deal there eithier. Only other issue i really have is there is some wavyness at the right side of the monitor and its somewhat discolored in this area also. If you look close on right hand side of the pic in the middle you can see it. From what i've read a cap kit may fix this, or it may be just a matter of degaussing ( i swear i didnt see this there when i bought it ....so hoping for some degaussing luck ).
There are a few things i am looking at doing in the future to it as upgrades, such as led marquee light, new orange t-molding and sideart. But they are not really critical before i put it on site, which is why i bought it.
Sideart may be quite a while only place i can find it's over 200 bucks.
