Foot Pedals? (For use with a lightgun, not racing.) |

Hi, I've been looking for a good solution to emulating the old metal style "UP" foot pedals used in the original Time Crisis machines, and thus far I have no ideas. Originally I figured I'd just buy one and mount it into a sort of wood stand attached to the bottom of machine, but I can't seem to find any quality solutions to this, the only thing I've been able to find were a couple of cheap plastic ones. Perhaps there's a way to buy old arcade ones and simply but something underneath them to map it to a button? That's simply all the pedal does really anyway, presses/holds/releases a button. If anyone has an ideas for me I'd really appreciate this, playing time crisis without the pedals would just not be the same! (I've done it on a ps2 and it was quite dull.) |

Keep an eye out for the Happ gas pedals like this one. Specifically, you want the ones with the microswitch, not the analog one. They pop up on ebay all the time. You could use one of the analog ones if you hooked it up with an analog interface, but the microswitch one will hook straight up to whatever keyboard/gamepad encoder you are using now. |

Cool - what materials that made out of? Looks a bit plasticy - though I guess I could always build those pedals into my frame and then cover them in a sheet metal or something. Also is there any official store for 'em? Not that I have anything against ebay, but I'd like to be able to make a sure purchase. |

They are hammer finished enamel over 16 gauge steel. The pivot pin on them is 3/8" solid steel, with nylon bushings. You can buy them direct from Happ, but they are $72.40 + Shipping. Check with Divemaster or Ponyboy in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum. They are Happ resellers, and can get you the best prices on them, if you don't want to wait. |
