MVP & Coach of the year - your thoughts

(1/4) > >>

DrewKaree:
We're talking football.  Not soccer, football - American style.

I'm seeing/hearing Brady for MVP, and I just don't get it.  Throw another halfway decent QB in there with the weapons he's got, and I see a darn similar outcome, possibly identical.  To me, it points to him NOT being an MVP, but simply a cog in a machine.

I see the same for Favre.  While they'd need a bit better quality quarterback as a replacement than the Pats would, I can still see them doing similarly.  I also think coaching has a BUTTLOAD to do with the Packers' results this year.

Honestly, I see Matt Schaub as being one of the MOST valuable players to his team.  Look at where they were last year, look at this year, and look at this year when he went out.

As for coach of the year, while my heart wants McCarthy to win it, the Browns turnaround has been nothing short of amazing.

I think you're just seeking around for anyone but Brady... other QBs would win with this team but they wouldn't be 13-0 and they wouldn't be having the greatest QB season ever.

MVP could be Jeff Garcia or maybe Moss.  Welker and Stallworth wouldn't be able to do anything without the constant double safety attention to Moss.

The difference between Brady and every other QB (except Peyton) is that he rarely makes a mistake. His awareness and decision making is on a different level. You could give him the Dolphins receiving corps and he'd make them look pretty darn good too.

He won three Super Bowls with a below average receiver group.  Aside from the lack of mistakes Brady is the most accurate QB I've ever seen.  Every throw, from every angle, is right in stride and in the hands zone.  The ones that aren't are right in the receiver only zone.  You get a guy like Moss in there, who catches everything, and you simply can't miss him.

Well, except that one pass in the end zone last night... that throw was practically superhuman.  Even Moss couldn't handle that one.

Tony Romo.  He delivers every week.  Yesterday he had two touchdown drives with under two minutes to go in the first and second halves.
