The wait for a job is (potentially) over - thank God

RTSDaddy2:
EDIT: Heard from the school yesterday 12/10 - things are still good, but position may not be available until after 1/1/08.  Will keep updates here.

Well, after 10 months, my job search is ending.  Sometime next week I expect to be in a classroom teaching science.  It's not my top choice, but I'm honestly out of time to look.  We have through the end of January and at that point it's either find something or file Chapter 13.

We've had to cash out two retirement accounts just to stay afloat since September (don't be alarmed, they were very small accounts and all the money went to bills). It broke our hearts, but as a friend told us "Bad news: you no longer have the accounts. Good news: God provided the money for you when you needed it to keep your home and your cars at least."  It's a good, and valid point.  We learned we're not the only ones in that boat either, so that made us feel a little better.

When I resigned my position in January, I would have never thought about being out of work for this long.  The jobs are out there, it was simply that no one would hire me - or that I never could get the first interview to begin with.

I just wanted to offer my thanks to all of you who've kept my family in your thoughts, as well as those who offered advice during a very trying time in my life.  I think I've said it before, but being out of work is bad enough by itself....being out of work with a wife and child dependent on you to provide for them is worse.  Yes, my wife could have found a job, but we made a decision about a year and a half ago that our daughter needs a mommy at home with her more than she needs a working mom.   As long as we could afford that, I wanted to keep it that way.  This new job will allow us to do so.

Actually, my wife has taken a part time job at a day care center just around the corner from our house.  It's not much, but it will help pay groceries, and our kid gets to play there free so we can't beat that.

We have a lot of financial rebuilding to do - it will be a slow process, but again, thank God the money was there for us to use and that we did not lose our house.

Thanks again for your support!   ;D

Great news, glad to hear it!

Dervacumen:
Sincere congratulations!

I wish you guys all the best with the future.  And not just because of all the tips and direction about the Wii!

bfauska:
Congratulations and good luck with the new job.  Hopefully it will be more rewarding than you expect (since it's not your 1st choice) and also allow you to return to and/or keep the lifestyle you are accustomed to.

Havok:
See? I told you to stop picking your nose in interviews, and look! You get a job!

 ;D

Seriously though, that's great news - I'm glad you are getting back on your feet...
