Tekken 3 on Mame 0.120
Andypc:
Hi,
I am new to this forum, so I apologies if the answer to this question is obvious. I have just converted a Jamma cabinet to run Mame :)
Specs:- Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66Ghz; Asus P5E-VM Intel G35 motherboard; 2Gb DDR2 PC8500 Memory; Ultimarc Arcade VGA; Ultimarc J-pac. I am running standard Mame 0.120 32bit and Mamewah 1.62b12a
Really pleased with the set-up so far, but Tekken 3 is really slow even though it say it's running rock solid 100%. I have tried all the setting I can, but it's still very slow when playing. I guess my spec should be able to run this at full speed, so is the speed issue a problem with the emulation? I know it say it is not 100% accurate.
I have it running at correct speed wit Zinc, but the sound is very bad.

Thanks
Andy

Sorry to say it's has to be something in your setup, I just did a quick benchmark of tekken3 on my system E6850 @ 4ghz, MAMEUI 32bit 0.121 in XP Pro and got a a score of 230%, even with scaling that score to your CPU clock speed your system should still be able to run it at about 150%.
So it has to be something about your setup that is slowing it up, I can only suggest updating to 0.121 deleting any old config files and try running it in DirectDraw, with the -MT switch and see where that gets you, also make sure you've got the lastest drivers for your PC including the Intel chipset INF.

Hi taz-nz,
Thanks for your reply. I should have said that I am using DirectDraw and the -mt switch and all the latest drivers. The problem is that the game is running at 100%, but actually plays very slow. If I set the throttle to 1.5 in my tekken3.ini the actual gameplay is nearer to what it should be, but of course that make everything else (i.e. sound character select run much to fast). I know you got a benchmark of 230%, but have you actually tried to play it? Would be interested to know what you think? Tekken 2 plays fine so I don't think it's my set up.

That's just an issue with Tekken 3.
Andypc:
Do you mean the emulation has currently got the speed / timing wrong?
Thanks
