There should be a diagram in the DK manual. Almost all Nintendo Arcade Games have the same stick and the same diagram in the manual. |

Just so you can gaze lovingly at the construction? I don't understand. |

I'm going to cut through all the petty internet I'm-smarter-than-you wars that seem to be flaring up here lately, and say THANK YOU to whoever pointed to the manual. There was an assembly diagram for the stick in there and it turns out my stick is complete. Thanks to those who didn't use this thread as a place to pick fights with each other. It was a pretty simple request. Mush |

And like I said before, you can modify the characteristics of your joystick simply by changing the spring. A stiffer spring will give a more positive feel and make it harder to pull straight up. A taller spring (referring to the height when fully compressed, so don't just stretch the existing spring) will make it so it won't pull up as far. You could try a spring that is a little stiffer and a little taller. You can pick up a hand-full of different springs to test out at your local hardware store for a few dollars. One of my spare Nintendo joysticks has had the spring replaced before I got it by a taller spring and it barely pulls up at all. I prefer the stock spring myself, so if I ever needed to use the joystick I'd put a stock spring in it. The way I use those tiny 4-way Nintendo sticks is to just lay my hand on the CP with the stick between my thumb and forefinger. I don't actually grip the stick so it is never pulling up accidentally. |
