Anyone have an assembly diagram for a Nintendo Donkey Kong 4-way/8way stick?

I'm trying to find a diagram of the original Nintendo DK 4-way/8-way joysticks. I can't shake the feeling mine in my Donkey Kong machine is missing a part. If I'm holding the joystick, I can pull it upwards nearly a quarter inch. That doesn't seem right. Like a spacer sleeve is missing or something. Either that or it's assembled incorrectly. You can feel that while you're playing, and it doesn't seem right. Or is that how they're supposed to feel??

Does anyone have a pic of the assembly breakdown for one of these? It would be mucho appreciated.

PS: If anyone has a couple of long leafswich buttons, just the buttons, in DK blue, who wants to trade for 2 short DK Blue leaf buttons, let me know. I ordered the wrong length...  :dunno

You could pull the handles up quite a bit; that's normal.  Weird, but normal.

All spring-based joysticks can be pulled straight up a certain amount. It is an invariable byproduct of the design. If they couldn't be pulled up like that, then they would also not be able to move in any direction, by default.

Nintendo joysticks tend to be more noticeable in this regard than others because they have weaker main springs than most other joysticks, so they pull up easier. It comes in handy for Super Punch-Out, because for that game, a game function was retrofitted to the joystick's ability to pull up.

Right, so even if it feels broken, it's not.  It just feels great, you understand?  That's the feeling of high quality goodness you're experiencing, not sloppy brokeness.  Seriously.  It's not the stick, it's you.

You're trying to derail this thread too? Saint allowing the Tron handle thread to split off and remain un-Post Helled wasn't enough for you?

BTW, to the OP, put a taller spring (taller when fully compressed as compared to the height of the stock spring when fully compressed) in the joystick and it won't be able to pull up as far, and/or put a stiffer spring in there (which will make it so it doesn't pull up as easily).
