ChadTower:

It will never work without the right kick harness.

The game is actually complete and powers up, but it shows an EPROM error on the screen and won't proceed.  I got to play it 1x, shut it down, went to power it up the next day and that was it..  I don't think it had been played in years and I dealt the final blow- the time I got to play it tho was enough to get me hooked (never fails!!!).

To further enhance your idea, you could have some normally closed buttons on each pedal that, when both are released at the same time, would 'kick' the balloons up.   ;D
ChadTower:

He could put a bigass button on the kick panel and actually kick it.

Yah I rememeber Kick being very popular when I was a little kid - probably because it was so kid friendly. I remember a big row of them at Pier 39 in San Francisco.  I am sort of surprised that it has never been considered a true "classic"...

I like the idea of coming up with new, innovative controls for old games, fun ideas!

You could rig a switch (or piezo pickup?) to an inflatable "workout" ball sticking out of the front of the cab and kick that!
