I was you last year at Xmas. Slickstik Sucks balls (company i mean)- over priced and you don't get what you pay for. I am happy with my control panel but not in love with it (like i should be)- They did it wrong and after waiting 4 months or whatever it was - I wasn't returning it. They know that big orders like that will not get returned. You stick is nice..... Good luck with your arcade building and your Slickstick. |

I have been following this thread from the start of the Mameroom/SlikStik negotiations. First, those that are slamming SlikStik and/or Christian personally...are you SlikStik customers? The reason I ask is because if you are, you very well could hurt your chances on ever getting your panel...if you are not a customer, then you are hurting everyone else's chances. Let me explain... Considering that this is primarily a DIY forum, the majority of members may already be biased when it comes to vendors hanging around this board. Unfortuantely, this issue at hand is a business one. The fact of the matter is...whether Chris is or was just an employee (which is my understanding) or a partner, or even the owner of SlikStik LLC...It is an LLC which protects him personally...unless you wrote a check out to "Christian S" directly. I know this, because I have several LLCs set up by my attorney and business consultant for this very reason. Letting the Attorney General handle this situation really is the best approach...Slamming Chris personally is not. There is a reason why companies with good reputations are still doing business with Chris outside of SlikStik. It is very unfortunate, but the issues with SlikStik are not uncommon with any other business in financial trouble. My parents personally lost over $6000 when they ordered carpet from Carpet Barn just before they filed for bankrupcy. I know you don't want to hear it, but it is just business, and unfortunately, it's the little guy that always gets hurt. When a company folds or is in financial trouble, the order in which matters get resolved or paid is: 1) The governement 2) Banks or lending institutions 3) Creditors 4) Vendors 5) Customers Many times there is nothing left by the time it reaches the customer. And from what I've learned during Mameroom's negotiations...the best course of action I would recommend is to let Chris try to make good on what he has offered...although he does not have to (from a business perspective). While it may bring comfort to some that some lady from the chamber of commerce and the attorney general are involved...Ultimately they will most likely be awarded a judgement against SlikStik and the payout will be as outlined before (government, banks, etc...). With that being said, I do know that Chris is personally trying to get everyone's orders out. He is doing it out of his own poket....Mameroom has no involvement whatsoever in what he is attempting to do. Whether it is so he can come out of this on top of this ordeal when he starts his own company...or for other reasons. This forum accounts for less than 15% of all sales generated for SlikStik (I learned this whan trying to acquire the company)....So attempting to tarnish or derail any future company formed by Chris will ultimately be a futile waste of time. Back to my opening comment, the only thing people of this forum are doing, is limiting the chance for Chris to make good on what he offered, and really screwing people that Chris is trying to make good with. Let the man make good on what he promised, for the people that have money invested! I've already heard of SEVERAL customers receiving their panels (on this board!). If this is a personal matter against Chris, then don't fool yourself or anyone else on this board...you don't really care whether people get their products or not...you just want to do what you can to destroy Chris...whatever you do, I'm reminding you that it won't work (at least not on this board alone). I do realize that I am sticking my own head on the chopping block by making this post..but as a vendor, what is happening in here is wrong. Customers ARE receiving their products. Granted, a lot longer than what was expected...but what is happening in here is that people will lose if it keeps going in this direction...Unfortuantely for the people attacking Chris personally...it won't be Chris that looses. |

I thank Scott for posting as he does present a balanced alternative from what some others (myself included) have been saying. The aspect of Xtian's status with SlikStik is of critical importance because the shielding of the LLC is by no means absolute, particularly with respect to (mis)representations made by individuals within the LLC, potentially fraudulent activities and actions that would bblur the line between LLC and individuals (say, the lack of corporate records, using personal funds, etc.). I actually have been a customer of SlikStik and have never had a problem (and I keep having to say this). OTOH, I am a member of this community and this has been an ongoing problem with SlikStik. Somebody has to have some responsibility to warn newbs (e.g. 'If only I had read this thread before') . It's not like this issue just cropped up within the last two months -- the constant recurrence of these threads is evidence of that. I truly hope that SlikStik/Xtian make good with everybody, but we have heard that story before and haven't had much reason to place stock in what Xtian says. People should act with that in mind and not be blind to the fact the problem is not a new occurence. |

I would like to echo what CheffoJeffo has said...as that was my intent to say, but got a little sidetracked. The point that I really wanted to make was...warn people (newbs), post your grievences about SlikStik, personal experiences, etc...but then leave it. I know it's easier said than done...but since their is a chance to get your merchandise, why rock the boat...anyone still standing on the soapbox either has nothing to do with SlikStik during the recent affairs or has nothing to risk. ...there is nothing in the Law that says Chris personally owes you (I've reviewed the circumstances as a business owner myself), But he is trying to do the right thing. So why not let him (is my point). |
