I'd have to say that SlikStik lawyering-up is not good for us, at all. I'm not an attorney, but I'll bet their attorney said not to ship out anything pending a declaration of bankruptcy. |

From what I gather, Christian has been trading illegally under a non-registered (ie, expired and non-active) company name for the past year. Yet he's still "selling" products off his site, today, as we speak. (Note, I use the term "sell" loosely, it would be more apt to say he's still "taking people's money" under false pretences, for alleged products.) If they're getting legal advice, then how come they're still continuing this practice ?? Surely an ethical lawyer would advise to IMMEDIATELY cease this illegal trading ?? |

I would have to say that it depends on your definition of "bad". Personally, I don't think them hiring a lawyer makes a difference whatsoever. I think we're never going to see our items nor our money refunded to us by Slikstik voluntarily, and since people have filed suit against them they've had no choice but to retain the services of an attorney (if they have any sense at all). If anything, their hiring an attorney shows that the heat is on, and they're feeling it. An attorney can help mitigate some of the things being thrown at them, but they can't use a magic eraser to make stuff go away. If (Ha!) they've broken a law, they're still culpable. If they file bankruptcy, it will destroy their credit for 10 years and they'll still have to liquidate assets to some degree to pay a portion of what they owe (unfortunately, lawyer's fees typically come first!). Anyway, their hiring a lawyer was inevitable. This just strengthens my whole resolve about following through with the Attorney General. We're likely to never get full satisfaction on our orders, which is all the more reason to press a criminal case as much as possible. I don't know what the ramifications would be, but if everyone who has been slighted will ante up the information, we might be talking hundreds of thousands of dollars here, which would undoubtedly be a felony. Having a felonious criminal record can be extremely impactful, limiting the type of jobs you can get all the way to not being able to vote. Yup, without a doubt, the fact that they've retained a lawyer isn't a bad thing at all IMHO. Oh--as for their continuing to seel their products--who knows. Perhaps they haven't disclosed that little detail to their attorney, or at least the little detail that they're 1) Not practicing with a license, and 2) They're operating illegally from a residence (Nutley Town Ordinance). Oh! If their attorney reads this: GET YOUR MONEY UP-FRONT or :banghead: |

Any attorney worth his or her weight will find this forum and read and print copies of everything here. Attorney's represent their clients, but they still require all the information up front so they can make suitable suggestions to their clients. A good attorney will look at this forum to discover what types of people might be involved in a lawsuit or may be called as witnesses in a criminal case. I agree with Jonathan - the fact that they've hired an attorney is actually quite good because a competent attorney will look at the facts and may tell these guys it's better to settle up than let it proceed in its obvious direction. I also agree that most or all of you probably won't get your money back unless some sort of civil action is taken OR if a criminal case settlement requires some sort of financial restitutation. I've got a friend who went through bankruptcy a few years back and I wouldn't wish that on anyone - hopefully these knuckleheads will get smart and do the right thing or maybe their attorney will tell them...
