| Stereo receiver very close to touch screen monitor -- Problem??? |

Building a jukebox cabinet right now and before I start screwing everything together, I wanted to ask people whether they believe placing a stereo receiver right underneath a touchscreen monitor would be a bad idea. The space requirements I am dealing with are not a lot so the best place for my stereo receiver (if it is to sit flat like normal) is to rest it about 1 inch under the touchscreen monitor. Would there be any problem with having the receiver so close to the monitor? I guess my only other solution would be to mount the receiver on it's side somewhere else in the cabinet. Would this be a bad idea or cause the receiver any harm to have it always be sideways? |

Interesting question... I'd say put it there and if you see issues, shield it. |

Yeah I just thought about this and I am at work so I can not simply test it out until I get home. Even if it does not result in any interference right away I was wondering whether there would be any effects I need to worry about over a long time period into the future. How about positioning a receiver on it's side ..... will this work or would that be bad for the receiver? Also, last time I asked about speakers and such I believe "shielding" came up and I thought buying true shielding material was too expensive. |

You can shield with most simple metal, IIRC, so long as it is thick enough. I have shielded cocktail power supplies (that were too close to the monitor) with coffee cans. If the receiver has no moving parts I can't see putting it sideways as a problem. |
