I have come across a chance to buy several Dell GX115 CPUs in a bulk lot. I bought one off of him this past weekend and he told me he has dozens. Looking for interest before I buy more. These are nice and small and will work great for bar tops and standup cabinets. I know the guy has a lot of these so the more I buy the cheaper I can get them. I imagine I could get them for $15 - $25, depending on the quantity.

Anybody interested?

Whole PC or just the CPU?
If its the whole PC I might be interested.

Really depends on you location in reference to the seller. Assuming cross country, UPS rates would vary like this:
1-3 pc's would range from $25-$55.

OK guys, the computer weighs 14lbs. Figure 2-6lbs for packaging depending on how many you get. They will be shipped from zip 43230. I will probably use FedEx.

Please let me know ASAP since these won't last long.

I have 10 of these available at $20.00 each plus shipping. They weigh around 15-16lbs packed and will ship from 43230 zip code. I will ship up to 3 at a time.

Each computer has been tested with tinyXP and work great.

Celeron 600mhz is equivalent to a 400-500mhz Pentium

P3 or P4?

Does it really matter?
Anyways, that is border line high end PII to low end PIII.

If I had to choose, I say low end PIII

Thanks Mountain!

I installed a slimmed-down nLited build of Windows 2000 on one of these last night and it seems to run very nicely.

I'd like to use it for a DOS-based cabinet, so I'm trying to get the sound to work in DOS (GameLauncher and MAME). So far I haven't had any luck, but with AC97 sound usually messing around with the SET BLASTER line in autoexec.bat gets it going. If/when I do get it working I'll post a DOS bootdisk.

Sweet.  That would be great JM.

I have "beast" running on it fine, but the frame rate in mame is crap.  If DOS works good on it, then it will save me from trying more RAM/ newer vid card.

Thanks Joymonkey!

Keep us posted with your progress, I plan on using one of these for a cab I am building for a friend. I have tested these with TinyXP, but like stobe says, the onboard video is lacking. I plan on using a separate video card for sure.

I still have a few of these left if anyone is still interested.

I've had no luck getting the onboard sound working in DOS. I think I tried about 5 different PCI drivers with the same result. I'll have to put in a Soundblaster Live or stick with the slimmed-down Win2000 build.

Here's what PCI Sniffer has to say about the device...

Don't know if it will help or not but Spystyle has had some pretty good luck getting audio to work in DOS with his boot CD. Mostly soundblaster stuff tho....

Here is a pic. I am pretty sure that they have, at a minimum, a couple of PCI slots.

They have two PCI slots, no AGP. I own a GX110 that used to be in my cabinet.

Neat.  I just didn't want to be in the same boat as I am now.  I got a Compaq Ipaq PC that I thought would be great for a cab since it's so compact.  Then I found that EVERYTHING is onboard, with no expansion slots at all.  The chipset supports 15KHz, but I can't sort out how to get it to work properly.  So since these have PCI slots, that would be perfect.  Be even better if I could get the sound to work in DOS.

Never tried DOS on my GX110, so I never tried the sound in that way. I do know that XP recognized the on-board sound during install and it works fine in windows.

These support Power On After A/C Failure, so they're great for a cab.

The PCI is on an expansion board that lets the cards mount horizontal.

The onboard ethernet is picked up during the install, so no extra drivers are needed.

I recommend putting in a PCI video card. The onboard video is terrible.

Mine was a 700 mhz with 384 RAM and it ran them playable, but frame skipping was needed.

SFII ran better than the Neo Geo stuff.
