Apart from Saints' Masterpiece, I'm looking for a good book on arcade (video) games. Any suggestions ? |

I'm reading a great book at the moment called "High Score!: The Illustrated History of Electronic Games" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/High-Score-Illustrated-History-Electronic/dp/0072231726/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/203-7528890-9593559?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1191729109&sr=8-1) It's not just about arcade games, but it deals with the people behind the revolution and how it all started. Loads of pics, and great detail. I would highly recommend it for anyone on this forum. Apart from Ratzz suggestion (which I also own and recommend), there's the short but interesting Arcade Fever and The Ultimate History of Video Games. |

Thanks guys ! Which of those comes closest to a "catalogue" of arcade video games ? |

"High Score!: The Illustrated History of Electronic Games" has loads of arcade pictures and info on arcade machines, but it isn't a dedicated catalogue of arcade games as such. A large part of the book covers arcade game history (as you would imagine) but it covers everything electronic really .. including home computer games and consoles. I have to say though, that it is a very fine collection to anyones library of books on the subject. If you follow this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/reader/0072231726/ref=sib_dp_pt/026-4805892-0216455#reader-link you can have a peek into the book and view it's contents. HTH  Edit: Apologies for stretching the forum with the links! |
