I guess before I opened my mouth I should have thought about whether or not this appeared to undermine the minimum order requirement. I want to hold on the group buy offer until I get the blessing from Santoro, out of respect for all the effort he puts into creating these tokens.

In fact, if there is any question or hesitation on Santoro's part, I'd rather wait and let the process evolve rather than circumventing.

It doesn't always have to be about being cheap. I bought into the artwork group buy at $50. I just have no need for 200 tokens. I don't even have a need for 50 tokens, but would like to show my support with an order none-the-less.

I have no need for oodles of tokens, but I'm primarily cash-disadvantaged.

For those that think 200 is "oddles" of tokens, put 200 quarters into a pile and you realize it isn't as many as it sounds like.  And it would get a bit annoying having to open up the coin box after every 200 drops to get them back out.

I understand it is a big outlay (bigger each year), but IMO worth it.

This is the first year I've ordered the tokens... didn't have a use for them before.  I ordered 100 each of 2004 and 2005 a couple weeks ago and my preorder for the 2007 tokens is in now... I'm just hoping we can get the 2006 tokens done too, but if not, I'm happy with what I'll have once the 2007 comes in.

Do you find they disappear after a while?  That's what I'm most concerned about... paying good money for custom tokens only to find in a year that 75% of them are missing because they walked off with guests or the kids did random things with them.

And now I figure my 500 token pre-order might not be enough, given that I want to toss some into a coin pusher, and a slot machine (neither of which I own as of yet), as well as having enough for an arcade machine, for when friends come over.

Would any of you with these types of machines suggest that I up the order count, or am I covered?

well considering I haven't hacked my pinball mechs and my project "old skool" is still not complete, they just sit in the plastic tub.... I'm sure my boy has snuck off with one or two to show off and lost them, but 'tis no big deal I've still got plenty.... And since I order 200 a year I don't have to worry about running out when my cabinet is complete. I do however, need to pull a few aside once my gameroom is complete, just in case i start seeing more disappear....

Since it's your design, you may want more for the bragging rights of having been the artist of this years tokens, but you'll most likely want to get some of previous years or other types of tokens just for the sake of having a variety. A token pusher is going to require quite a few tokens within itself, and you'll also need quite a few for a slot machine... I can take better pictures of mine when I get home, but that plastic container isn't that big and there's a little over 1000 tokens in there and it isn't nowhere near full.

Haven't put all the documentation together yet...but I'm hoping to get all that together soon.

If a few of us who don't necessarily want 200 of these tokens were to order them anyway, we could distribute later on our own.  I plan on buying 200 of these when I get some money into my Paypal and if I can sell a few to buy some of the others later then great, if I can't, I'll still have 200 really cool tokens.  It seems like if a few of us go with this logic it'll help the initial order get the numbers required.  It would only hinder the initial order if people who CAN afford this many DON"T because they are going to wait for people like me to sell smaller quantities.  As a deterrent to that mentality (and because it is true) I will let everybody know now that I regularly drop the ball on things like this, I may very well order 200 and not sell any to anybody because I am too lazy or forget.  If more flaky people with $50 took the plunge we'd hit the 10k mark in no time.  I'll do my part next Thursday or Friday (I think that's soon enough for the 2 week deadline.)

Status update:

It really doesn't look like Nickel is going to happen this year as we are struggling just to get to the levels we need for Brass.  If I take out those few orders for nickel that indicated "no substitution,"  we have paid orders for 4700 Brass.  If we get 7-8 more orders for 200 we should be good to go for brass.

edit: clarified wording.  We don't have 4700 orders, we have orders for 4700 tokens.

Santoro, I believe I ordered 100 brass, 100 nickel and don't remember being asked if I would accept all brass.  I would accept all brass, so please feel free to change my order appropriately.

If you don't remember being asked then you answered yes. This was the default answer.

BTW I only ordered 200 tokens and I have to admit that I really think that is enough, but if the question is no tokens or ordering more, I would rather order more tokens than get none at all.

Only 200? Remember, your tokens can be used for other purposes as well.... for example, one day you might get really really bored and end up submitting something to www.coinstacking.com

I can use flat rate evelopes for the US.  Unfortunately they raised the international rates dramatically in May.

Yeah, I knew ordering 600 tokens (800 if you include the 2006's I want) would bump the postage up a heap. But I'm still happy with it, I think the tokens are more than good enough to justify the cost.
and Santoro, the ONLY person I'd consider blaming here is the pricing director at USPS. I have no complaints with your exceptional service.  Sorry if it sounded like I was having a whinge.

Once the order is actually placed with the mint what kind of time-line are we looking at?  Not to rush you, but it would ease my impatience having a "no sooner than" date.

If I order the tokens in a week, it could be 2-3 weeks later before they are in my posession.  So barring complications they could begin shipping in a month.
