Wanted: Joystick Port Sparepart for Atari 800XL

(1/3) > >>

Luigi:
Hi.

Sure I know: this has nothing to do with arcade :)

I saved an Atari 800XL from the dump (complete with Datasette and 1050 Floppy). It had a keyboard issue the letter U was permantly printed on the screen without pressing the key. I could fix this but there is another problem. Due to the missing first pin in the joystick port 1 Player 1 cannot move up (see picture).

I've been searching in germany for the right part but could not find it. Do you know a source where I can get an (almost) original sparepart or at least something that looks similiar?

Would be great.....thanks :)

Aren't those just 9-pin DIN connectors?

Been a while since I've seen one from the front, but they do remind me of DINs...

Yes, they are :)

And I've found a sparepart but it's far away from looking like the originals and before I do this I will continue my search for something that might look more like it should :)

I doubt you'll find an oem replacement part, but you should be able to use pretty much any 9-pin d-sub male connector.  Its <possible> a PCB style right angle plug will fit right in....

DRB-9PR is the part # you want

Luigi:
I'm afraid you're right. But I will replace both ports so they look equal.

I found something that looks pretty much like the original.

I guess I'll have to take a closer look at the mainboard
