Probably from the same guy you are looking at since he has a lot of them. I paid $56 plus $25 shipping. They work great, and yes, the volume control does detach from the speaker. I'm following the book as well and plan on mounting as soon as I finish painting. |

Spyridon, thank you! I appreciate the feedback on the speakers. Everyone else, thanks for your comments and responses. Jim |

Wow those prices hurt me. I could have saved so much money ... :badmood: |

I also own these speakers. They are very very good. I bought mine when Best Buy was having a sale on them for 90 bucks. (They regularly sell for 150 or so) The only gotcha, is there is a known design "flaw" in the DIN connector that you connect to the sub from the control pad. The DIN connector has a tendency to break very very easily. I *HIGHLY* recommend connecting the DIN once, and then do NOT touch it again. (Check out the Klipsch forums on their own site for more info) |

On a semi-related note I was looking at 2.1 sets for my cabinet project recently and I noticed some nice features on the Logitech Z-4 speakers. The satitlites use standard RCA style connectors so those are easy to extend and the on/off volume control looked like it used a 9 pin serial cable. Seems to be a good set if you need flexibility in where stuff goes. |
