| Quick degaussing question. |

| Joystick Jerk:
I just received my degaussing coil, and had a question about it's power. The instructions do say that the coil can erase magnetic media, so is it safe to use this on the monitor when my PC with hard-drive is 2 feet below it? Should I remove the PC from the cab first and then degauss? |

I'm 98% sure it will be safe to degauss. By the way, you can also degauss with a simple magnet by simply spinning it while moving close to the magnetically damaged area of the screen. |

It is probably safe but if the Hard Drive is not inside a metal case (i.e. Normal PC Chassis) I would remove it just in case as HDD are a lot easier to mess up then people give them credit for. Its just a peace of mind thing really. |

Well, I tried it with the PC still in the cab, and all went well. Thanks for the info, guys! |
