Happ Trackball: need mounting kit or plate?

Dan:

I'm ready to order a 3" Trackball from Happ Controls but I'm not sure if I need the mounting kit or the plate or both.  I'm mounting it in a 3/4" wood panel.  The lady on the phone told me that the kit comes with everything I need to mount it and I don't need the plate.  Is this true?   All the pics I see on this site show the plate!  I'm confused..
