Just wondering if anyone else had problems getting the DIY board recognized through the Vista operating system. XP seems to be fine once it is recognized, but Vista has problems. Now it could be the actual connector, but my game consoles work perfect(PS2 and Dreamcast). I am trying PS/2 or USB with no luck. It just detects the board as a generic USB. Is there a setting that can be used to get it to act like something else? Are there any drivers ready to download? I will be calling the guy at xarcade, but more education will at least help me in what I should ask. Thx in advance...and I am almost there with my arcade being finished! |

i just hooked my x-arcade 2 player unit that i gutted up to my vista pc and it works fine. i used the PS2 connector. the usb adapter they sent me was a generic adapter called a Y-Mouse, but i cannot find it, so i couldnt test it with USB. if you are connecting it via PS2, make sure you have a PS2 keyboard plugged into the x-arcade or it will not work. i booted my vista pc up with just the x-arcade but it wasnt recognized. i shut it down, hooked up a ps2 keyboard to the passthrough port, and booted back up. now the x-arcade is working just fine. on a side note, please tell me you are not running vista on your cabinet... |

Vista I think is great. Problem..it is beta. In a year, it will be fine. Though it is the future, ME it is not. So many people talked crap on XP, now they hug it. Vista has so many great options, and the main MAME dev likes it, so cool! As for the PS/2...got that working, and I may have to go that route. Getting a new cable though, so I will report back. So I answered my own question, just like you reported(thx!). Vista does work fine with PS/2. USB..not sure yet. Vista utilizes the most out of Mult-core. Great for newer games which are also in my cab. End of story. |

Sucker/pioneer...depends on how the cookie crumbles. For me, other then a few side problems, Vista is hands down faster in multi-applications. Also, data access blows XP away. Try to have a bunch of files in a folder and time VISTA vs XP. Hmmm is it even close? There are so many good points for VISTA, that all I can say is see for yourself. I didn't choose the system though, I chose the computer, and it came with the baggage. That said, the system is very nice, and I am really contemplating switching my main computer over from XP. Getting better all the time, and MUCH MORE STABLE! |
