Sega Cabinet Conversion to MAME.

<< < (4/6) > >>

AngryCanadian:
Here is an update...

I have sanded the original down to rough up the surface.

I cut the front panel with a jigsaw to mount the custom CP to the proper height.

Got some tinted primer to coat the entire cabinet and CP with. The primer is specially made to stick to slick surfaces. This will help the final paint to stick without wearing off easily.

I ordered all the required parts for the CP from Happ, GroovyGameGear, and MameMarquees.

I am planning on painting it all black but have not yet decided on flat black or semi gloss. Anyone have any suggestions for paint?

Here are some pics to keep you up to date on the project.

AngryCanadian:
Well, I am heading down the home stretch.

I have painted 2 coats for black over the primer on all parts and am just waiting for the weather to warm up just a bit to do a light sand and final coat.

I started to put together and wire the custom CP from Knievel...looks sharp.

Now I have one last major task...a Monitor.

I have a 26.5" width to fit a monitor inside the cabinet, but I am not sure what to get.

I would like to stick with a TV so that I can also hook up my old Sega CDROM to play as well.

Anyone have any TV suggestions? I think a 25" TV will fit...may have to remove it from the case.

Are there any good guides to mounting TVs into Jamma cases? I still have the metal monitor brackets but have no idea how I would use those to mount a TV properly inside.

I will add some new photos when I get a chance.

AngryCanadian:
Sooooo...I was slacking for a long time over the winter months...too cold in the garage to work on the cabinet.

Here are the latest updates...'CAUSE IT IS DONE!!!!

I decided on a 27" JVC TV since others have had success using one as the monitor...it works great.

I will now just post some sequential pictures that show the final build out progression.

I once again have to give props to my fellow countryman and all around great guy Knievel, for without his help I would have banged my head on the concrete floor many times in frustration.  :notworthy:

Here we go...if there are any questions on what I did please feel free to message me.

AngryCanadian:
Here are a few more of the finished product.

One thing of note...I ordered a custom wall plate with 2 USB connectors and a headphone and mic jack. I wanted to be able to use my Act Labs Force RS steering wheel and shifter and also a couple of EMS TopGun II guns (see photo  ;D).

Now...I just need the MAME devs to get those American Laser games rockin'!

PS...YES...that is a Sega Genesis + Sega CD ROM + Sega 32X. Another reason I wanted a TV for the monitor...(more light gun games!)

Hunk_4TH:
Sweet set up man! What are you using for a monitor? And how did you mount it?  :P
