I just got my hands on an X-Men 4 player arcade machine and am looking at converting it into a Mame Arcade. I have been living on this website trying to figure out what I need to do to get started. I'd like to use the current controls for now (4 - 8-way joysticks w/ 3 buttons each) but make sure I build this so I can expand in the future for more buttons, trackball, etc. I am also debating if I should use the existing arcade monitor or swap it with a 19" Mitsubishi monitor I have. I'd love to get some feedback or some suggestions on what would be the best thing to do. Thanks!

Is it working and/or in good condition?

If so, you might be better off keeping it / selling it and building your
own cab from scratch or some other cab that is more of a carcass.

While X-Men isn't exactly a classic to all, I'm sure it's a  classic to some...
and it may be harder to refit than to build new, just one person's opinion.

I think there's a thread already going along those lines somewhat recently...

It is in pretty decent shape. It works and plays well. I have posted a few pictures on here on the cabinet and the inside.

I am sort of leaning on using this cabinet as I don't have all the tools to cut and make a cabinet from scratch.

From what I can tell from the pictures, it looks like it's in really good shape. And, if it plays well, I'd agree with vidmouse - sell it if you don't want it, and find another cab to MAME (pun intended).

Apparently, these Konami cabs are quite durable - my MK is in one & it's held up well also. :)

Austin.Wolff:

I'd find a new cab to MAME.

That thing is beautiful.

BUT, if that is the style of cab you are looking for and have no reason/room to collect, I'd say MAME it.
