| Northern California Coin Op collectors and auctions? |

I see quite few people down South and a few auctions as well, but is there some kind of group for those of us up North? As much as I would like to pick up those super cheap cabs around L.A., Driving the distance with the cost of gas would exceed any savings.... Unless it was a perfect Tempest. ;D |

I'll second that...although there was an auction this summer in San Jose that I missed. I think that or sacramento is about as far north as we are likely to get. |

I work smack in the middle of Sac. Most of the arcade collectors I know, I wouldn't really classify as, "collectors." More like MAMErs. Nice people and all, but they're all a little pushy to get me to hurry up and MAME my cabinet. Exactly the same kind of attitude that made me quit going to MTG games around here. I hate this ---smurfing--- city. The overall mentality doesn't mesh well. Everybody just wants you do what they want you to do or grub your money. When I lived near Reno, the mentality about gaming was way more palatable. Gaming was first, making money was second. :banghead: I saw that auction in San Jose mentioned. I could've made the excuse to visit family, but I just couldn't get away in time for it. |

I was at the auction, it was pretty sad, only about 50 or so machines and most in really bad shape. If it had not been for the California Extreme Show next door I would have been bummed. Although I did buy a pachinko game there. |

I am in the central valley as well, around Turlock (by Modesto) and San Diego is the nearest auction venue for us. I think they have an auction about 3 or 4 times a year there at the fair grounds. |
