Umm... what era of gaming does he remember best?

Was he introduced to gaming during the 2600? Then show him some of the old school games from that time, like Tempest.

Is he a Nintendo baby? Show him Super Mario Bros. or any of the old Nintendo classics.

Is he a CD basket case? It's a little early, but whip out some of the NeoGeo stuff or whip out SFII, MK, or something similar.

If he was introduced to gaming around the Xbox era, then you really have no hope. The best you could hope for is appeal to his love for gaming.

In my experience, if the person isn't already nostalgic about old arcade games, don't bother trying to impress him with MAME or your cabinet.  Some people just don't seem to 'get it'.

I have to agree with you there.   Don't underestimate the extra "fun" factor that comes from nostalgia with these games.
