I tried that once, but never heard anything. Of course, my area's craigslist is not very active other than the ridiculous spammers.

Cap the monitor -- it's not as hard as you think and the G07 is pretty easy to work on, although there is one cap (C302) where the polarity is marked incorrectly on the board (each cap must be correctly positioned POS/NEG and there is one cap marked incorrectly on the circuit board). If you order your capkit from Bob Roberts, Zanen, ArcadeShop or Wolf Electronics, this should be noted in the instructions.

Also, the big filter cap (C904) has been known to "bite", so I discharge that prior to beginning work.

It may be that the problem will not be solved with a cap kit, but it is a good place to start since it sounds like these caps are 17+ years old.

You may want to take a picture of the screen and post in the Monitor forum for more information.
