Testing of CHD's on a AMD 4000+ & a intel dual core 6600 nice results....
divemaster127:
hey guys thought I would share some results of playing around with the chd's on my mame system & my main desktop...I was pleased with what a intel dual core can do.
First sytem is a AMD 4000+ 64 chip, 2 gig kingston hyperx ram...pci arcadevga, this motherboard does not clock well..I can only get 2241 bench mark on pctuneup.com. I have a same setup with a Gigabyte motherboard & i can get a 2600+ bench mark with overclocking on my racing setup. I have been testing some of the chd's I can run most of them below are 4 that will run but you cannot play due to poor frame rate.
1. Carnevil
2. Mace: the dark age
3. Gauntlet legends (of course this wont run on anything)
4. blitz 2000
Then just for testing I loaded mame on my desktop which is a overclocked intel 6600 with 4 gig of corsair hyperx memory with vista bench mark is 3400+, when i was running xp i could get a benchmark of 4000+, 8800 video with 320 meg
1. Carnevil runs perfect
2. Mace: the dark age runs perfect.
3. Gauntlet runs better still not playable
4. blitz 2000 is almost playable, if I was running xp or if had maybe a cpu 2 steps higher blitz would be playable, just wanted to try it out.
It would be great if someone had a main system with a few more horses than mine could try blitz 2000.

You should post your results on the MAME benchmarking site.

Do you have a link & i will put this up there, after my testing Im going to switch my amd 4000+ to a amd dual core with a very tweaked xp,computers are so cheap now, I can do this for nothing. I can prob. get the speed on the amd dual core, up to my dual core running visa, since vista slows my sytem down so much. Also I have noticed that the last several mame updates are adding to the chd a lot.
thanks

I just finished building up a x2 6000, I'll have to revisit the CHD's tonight and see what I can do. (As long as Guitar Freaks is good, that's all I care :) )
