DrumAnBass:
Check out the Roku Labs SoundBridge - I love it:

shmokes:
Here's a product from Logitech that is basically a poor man's Sonos.  It isn't as powerful, but it's about a tenth the price.  I'd love a Sonos system eventually, but this seems like an excellent alternative for the price.  For me, I've already got an Xbox which serves my current purposes just fine.

edit: Heh . . . forgot the link

Austin.Wolff:
The FM transmitters we built in Adv. Electronics cost about $15 in parts and had a range of a football field (teacher was also football coach).

shmokes:
Actually MWave.com has that Logitech thing I posted for $85.  That's amazing.  It was closer to $200 last saw it, maybe a year or so ago.

hulkster:
thanks for the link shmokes.  that looks pretty cool and closer to my budget.  ideally, i guess i would like a device in each room that i want music in (like a media extender or something with some small speakers) but i dont think ill be able to get that without spending some serious money.  i know the xbox route would give me lots of flexibility, but for one i dont want to put big black and green boxes in every room of my house.
