In AOL Hell
RTSDaddy2:
About a year ago I signed off of AOL - we'd moved to Comcast. AOL's response? Keep your email with us if you want, so we did.
PROBLEM: I cannot find my password. I need this information becasue the TeachGeorgia website is sending my password to it to the AOL account, I think (it's certainly NOT coming to my Comcast account); I have to get in to TeachGeorgia to apply for a couple of jobs on it. So I call AOL. I have been on the phone for approximately 30 minutes with the most irritating automated answering service in the history of the known world. The conversation goes something like this:
Robot: So what is your problem? You can say 1) _____ 2) Reset Password, etc.
Me: Reset Password
Robot: I'm sorry, I didn't quite get that...please repeat
Me: Reset Password
Robot: I'm sorry I'm having so much trouble today - could you say it again?
Me: (fully enraged by now) RESET PASSWORD!
Robot: Ok, so it's reset password that you want? Please say yes or no
Me: Yes
Robot: Let me make sure I understand your problem...it's reset password?
You get the idea. Does anybody know of a phone number I can call where I can talk to an actual person?

Hate to break it to you - doesn't work. It seems as it if will for a moment, but then it gets hung up wanting to know how to access your account - and at that point it acts as if it no longer can hear me.
AtomSmasher:
doh - you may want to report it to the website I linked to.

What I find funny is that after going thru the hell of cancelling AOL, you didn't think to completely severe your ties to them. I have never been more unbelievably pissed than when telling the guy "cancel my account" over and over for 20 minutes. "Would you like to keep your account active for email"...are you ---smurfing--- KIDDING me!!!
;D :laugh2:
Your best bet is to choose another path to get to a human, you know, like saying you want to cancel, then tell them all you want to do is reset your password. If you really want them to help, tell them you might consider signing back up if they expedite your request...hehe.
