Band AND Solo success?

<< < (5/7) > >>

Guaranos:
It's not really going solo per se, but Green River spawned Mother Love Bone, Mudhoney, and Pearl Jam.  While we're on the grunge topic (or at least I am), Chris Cornell had success after Soundgarden with Audioslave and to a lesser extent his solo stuff.  After Nirvana, Dave Grohl formed the Foo Fighters, and did a little drumming for Queens of the Stone Age.

None of those compare with Clapton or Black Sabbath, though.

The wiki entry for John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers.  Check out the names that have gone through that band and on to other success.

I saw John Mayall perform in St. Louis a couple years ago.  He's still pretty good.  Probably the one individual most responsible for bringing blues music to England which later influenced just about every genre of music.

Missed out on the concert the original poster mentioned.  They played with ZZ Top in San Antonio.  Real pissed I didn't make it. :(
