Setting Frameskip to '2', Noticable??
(1/1)
lettuce:
Im using an AMD 64 3400 cou, and have 1 GIG of RAM in my MAME PC, i have been getting screen tearing problems and so have enabled 'triple buffering' but get stuttering sound problems on some games. I have found that by changing the frameskip option to '2' on these games stops the stuttering from happen. Now why question is, is setting frameskip to '2' noticable to the human eye or does it all depend on the game being played??

Probably yes and yes, but a lot of the time you won't notice it.  I would avoid using frameskip where possible, but if your PC is struggling there's not much else you can do (assuming you're using the best performance MAME settings).

I can't remember off the top of my head, and of course some are dependant on your system.  I'm sure they have been mentioned/discussed here numerous times.  Stuff like 'priority                  1' etc.  You can also try things like lowering the sound samplerate.

I'd do a search for 'mame performance' etc.
