U360: do i need the restrictor kits?

fjl:

I got the U360's with the hard springs. I recommend the hard springs as it made the joystick movement feel a lot smoother. Didn't get the restrictor plates. Not because I don't think it needs them but because I figured I didn't need them.

The only joysticks I own are the u360's so I can't really compare them to anything. When I first tried them, the throw did kind of feel just a tad long. I've since gotten used to it. Plus used to no clicking sound and the feel of no corners like you feel when using a normal switch joystick. It is pretty much playable though. But like someone already mentioned, you can't really tell until you try it for yourself. Get the sticks, get the restrictors if you feel it neccessary. But just try it and keep whatever you feel has the better fitting.

As for me, I've gotten used the hard springs and no restrictors.

i want to keep my cp versatile: switch modes on the fly, from 2/4/8/diagonals/analog/etc...

What type of games are you going to play the most?

I have the hard springs, and tried with restrictor and without.  Personally, I prefer the circle restrictor for shmups, and without for analog games, but are usable either way.  Don't play fighters, but my guess is I'd prefer a restrictor like with shmups.

All I can say is that they are unplayable stock.  They need restrictors and/or plates.  I'm planning to buy the springs first, see how that feels, then buy the plates if necessary.

i want to keep my cp versatile: switch modes on the fly, from 2/4/8/diagonals/analog/etc... thus it seems that i would limit myself installing restrictors.

is the throw too long to play fighters?

also: are the medium springs a must-have?

thanks for your input!

plus i'll save some    $$$

Throw is toooooooooo looooooooong to play fighters. You must have restrictors. Without restrictors you can play analog games only.

Without medium spring playing on fighters is hard. Centering is bad. This additional spring is required.

Then if you want buy U360 you must buy restrictors and spring. Without it forget about playing.

ARTIFACT:

OK thanks - I think I'll get springs and restrictors.

Quick questions:

are "analog games" OK with say a circle restrictor on?

(I don't want to take apart my CP after the fact. I want 1 stick for all ;D )
