Anyone familiar with the Midway NFL Blitz cabinet? [changing monitor size]
(1/1)
Sir Auros:
Per a suggestion, I decided to make a thread specifically looking for people familiar with this cabinet, because I want to know if I can put a 27" monitor in it even though I'm pretty sure it originally had a 25" one. I figured more people would see it in this forum, but if staff thinks it should be moved, please move it.

Anyway, if someone who has this cabinet or a version of it (I thought Gauntlet Legends used the same plans) and knows if it can take a 27" monitor, I'd greatly appreciate the input.

I'm just having a hard time finding a 25" monitor that's also multi-sync and won't require me to recalibrate every time it changes resolutions.

EDIT - Even more specifically, has anyone put a 27" Betson multi-sync into this cab?
MonMotha:
I have an MK2, which is the same plan as NBA Jam, and (I think) the same plan as Blitz (but I could be mistaken on that).  I have a 27" Betson/Kortek in it.  It fits, but BARELY.  You actually have to angle it in a little bit to get the mounting flanges on the monitor to clear the little pieces of wood on the side meant to hold the monitor glass and bezel in.

I did have to fabricate new monitor mounting brackets, but it was possible to do so in a manner that utilized the existing holes.  I just made new ones from some plate steel in a manner similar to the old ones, but putting the lip and hole for the bolt in a suitable place to line up with the holes on the new monitor's mounting frame.  It's snug, but everything fits with no further modifications.
Malenko:
I have an MKII as well, it houses a 25" monitor. I don't see why a 27" couldn't fit, but I don't ever plan on trying to squeeze one in there.
Sir Auros:
My thoughts on modifying for a larger monitor are that if I'm going to have to modify the cabinet anyway, I might as well keep looking for a TV that could fit. An arcade monitor is something I'm looking for mainly out of convenience (using existing mounts) and the ability to actually read the text in Windows.
