Example, this image is not large at all (333 x 500) ... and should be displayed without resizing it down.

The reason why I think the forum should allow images that are medium size is that it litterally destroys the images...

My plywood cuts look all messed up... :) they are not! they look like this only when I choose to display my images in the forum:

compare with opening it in a browser: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1398/757718816_5a1cbd044c.jpg?v=0

Thanks for considering tweaking the auto-resizer to allow for 500 pixel images (the default medium Flickr size)  :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:

Huh. I'll look into that, but the image you posted is not being auto-resized for me?

When I look at the image in the first message I can see the jaggies and the image is 319 x 480.   The flickr image is 333x500 and does not show any jaggies.  I am using Mozilla Firefox as my browser.

Huh. Not doing it for me. What's your screen resolution? I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.5 with a resolution of 1024 x 768.

You have code in your message forcing that image to a particular resolution.  I removed that code.

My screen rez is 1680 x 1050

Tried it on another computer 1024x768 and it still displayed with jaggies in the message but not when the image was viewed directly.

Okay, this is WEIRD.  I keep removing the code that constrains the image to that res.  It keeps coming back!

Even odder - the forum was set to allow a maximum picture size of 640x480... I just bumped it to 800x600. Let's see what affect that has. May need to punt this one to SirWoogie.

Ah! I understand now. It wasn't truncating the width from 500 to whatever. It was truncating the height to 480, and auto-sizing the width to match. So, I think I can tell it to have a maximum width with a much greater height.

Thank you sir!

I *think* you fixed it ... I think I need to go edit out the width/height values on all my images now, for your new settings to kick in

:)

On a similar note, does anyone have any idea why pictures posted with [img] tags might dissappear after a year or so?  I recently checked my old project thread (which I hadn't done in a few months) and almost all of the pictures have disappeared, and all of the posts show that they either haven't been edited or they haven't been edited since the day I originally posted them.  It's very odd.

And just to be clear, the images still exist on the server I put them on, it's the posts themselves that have changed and no longer have the [img] tags or the links to the pictures.

Heres a link to my old thread: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=42011.0
If you click my sig you can see how many pictures there are supposed to be.

We had a problem with the database about a year ago or so, and I think several messages got screwed up.

ah ok, I figured it was probably something like that.  It was just really weird how it was mainly just the images that got removed.

Yeah, it's happened to several threads. I originally thought people had moved the images or some such.
