Jimbo:
Hey Artifact,

Thanks from me also.  I too have most of the components done already, but I'm sure I can use a few of yours! :)  I'll too be posting all my Sketchup plans for my project when its nearer to being complete!
Neverending Project:
I wanted to make sure I add another hat tip to Artifact. I have modeled my conversion cabinet in sketchup so I could build a new CP, and make other modifications as necessary. With your models, I will save a lot of time on the CP - thanks!

I will post my plans as well, once I have the new CP designed. Since there is no hat tipping smiley, have a  :applaud: and a .

Thanks!
NP
ARTIFACT:
A few months later, the ARTIFACT GAME MUSEUM standup arcade machine is performing flawlessly!!!

My 5 year old and a friend, enjoying it a ton - the MALA menu is totally awesome... ALL controlled from the joysticks and trackball... NO maintenance / troubleshooting... it really feels like a dedicated "appliance" now.

He rocks at Ms Pac Man, Donkey Kong, and many others...

One great game I recommend is TETRIS ATTACK on SNES...
Excellent 2 player game, great for kids AND adults.
Oh, and the JURASSIC PARK game (lightgun)... For kids, just enable the infinite lives cheat, and they just LOVE the ride thru all the dinosaurs... My kid just uses the trackball and shoots like crazy :)

Take care guys... Anyone using my SKETCHUP PLAN / COMPONENTS yet?
ARTIFACT:
Woah.. Time flies

Something fun:
I threw out the real coin mechs (which jammed coins all the time) and built new ones with.... LEGO! I don't have pictures yet, but essentially I assembled a chute and fastened the coin mech's microswitch (the swinging metal bar kind). It works like a charm! ... I made this new chute system drop the coin in the RETURN area. This is perfect for me as I don't need a "bucket" anyway. My 6 year old loves dropping the coin again and again (so do I :))

Something not so fun:
Apparently something happened to my IPAC2 wiring, and I FRIED 2 MOTHERBOARDS! The cab worked fine for almost 2 years, 1 button operation, kids using it non-stop. Then BOOM and re-BOOM a second PC thrown in. Time to wire up the CP again from scratch, and throw in a new PC.

The design is still super BTW... No complaints at all, so if you want to build a replica model (see my sketchup plans) you can do so with peace of mind. There is plenty of space for 2 players (and folks around cheering!!), height is perfect, fits a large monitor. The whole cab is still fairly compact.

Take care everyone :) I thought I'd post this update
dekar24k:
Seriously, this is the nicest 2-player upright cab I've seen.  :notworthy:
