I use a 27" SONY Trinitron TV for my cabinet (model from 2000) I am looking into what to use as a Bezel... Ihought of using a Gator Board and cut to size. I am curious to know if the "proper" Happ 27" Bezel would work for my setup: http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49010500.htm I looked at the "inside dimensions" from the website, but it doesn't seem right (sony tv or not, isn't a 27" screen taller than ~15"?) The one thing about 2000 Trinitron TVs, is that they are a bit "curved" horizontally: http://www.avguide.com/images/products/large/PRODUCT_949.gif Thanks for letting me know what you think I should do (and if this happ bezel would work in my case) |

Hi, Most trinitron picture tubes are flat vertically and curved horizontally. I have a 21" Trinitron PC monitor that I am prepping to use in a cab build and am using a 19" bezel. The usual monitor bezels should be ok although you may see a gap on the sides due to the vertical flat nature of this picture tube. As long as the bezel is SMALLER than the screen you should be ok. If you want perfection you need to find a different bezel though or like you said, make one yourself. Good luck, Alex |

Thank you very much for replying. If I were to make my own bezel, what material would you recommend? I have seen pictures of people using paper/cardboard but it generally doesn't look as clean as I'd like... Someone suggested black Gator Boards (like foam core boards, but stronger / stiff) which sounded like a good idea. Are there materials prefered by BYOAC members? Thanks again. |

Tailgunner wrote this great piece on how he built his own bezel for his monitor (came out very nice!) http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,17175.0.html |

OK! I picked up 2 sheets of FOAM CORE BOARDS from the office supply tonight, and made my Bezel  It looks good, although I need to use some velcro to keep things in place. It's not all "shaped" like most bezels, but it blends well with the Trinitron's existing contour, and hides all of the cabinet's inside... Meets the goals to me! Next I'm putting my plexiglass in there... Stay tuned :) Thanks for the help! This is such a great community, I am happy to be a part of it. |
