Donkey_Kong:
My wife did the Locks of Love about 6-7 years ago. I liked her with short hair, but she didn't. Congrats on doing that though!

BTW: Dude, you look just like Axl Rose!!  ;D

Buddabing:
Yeah, my wife donated some hair to them last year. I'm trying to grow mine out now. It is thinning up front and top so I have to grow a "mullet".

Good job!

Joystick Jerk:
Is Locks of Love a legit organization, or one of those scam ones? I ask, because there was an expose study not too long ago that showed most charities that take in hair sell the vast majority to wig companies for a profit, and only use a small fraction as a token donation.

EDIT: Hmm, it does say on their site that any hair less than 10 inches in length will be sold for profit...

When my wife looked into it, they wouldn't even let you donate if you had less than 10" to give. And from all that I have heard, Locks of Love is legit.

ChadTower:

A company can be a charity, by law, if they donate a certain minimum percentage of their profits to charity and document it for tax puposes.  They are not nonprofits, obviously, but the percentage can be as low as like 10-15% I think in some states.  There are quite a few in MA of those "we'll take your junk cars for charity" companies that if you look into them are really scrap operations that donate a little to the United Way or something like that.  There is one by my house that really goes to effort to hide the profit part, too, and only takes running cars, boats, etc.  They do a huge business.
