I would LOVE to be a teacher and get all that time off! Most people in the country would PAY to have that kind of time off.

Teachers work a ridiculous amount of hours for a very low salary relative to the workload.  Then they turn around and spend a good chunk of it on supplies the school won't provide.  Given all that, my wife is almost done with her state certs to become a teacher herself.

Of course, saint isn't a teacher.   :)

I was a "teacher" in the University and I would get several months in a row off during the summer season. All in all I think I only gave classes during 50% of the year. The rest of the year was for students to study for exams and take them. During the off time I would only need to check the exams they handed in, but that rarely took more than a few days. Add some prep work for classes and I estimate I was off for 5 months out of 12.

My wife's step father was a college professor. All he had to do was teach two english classes, and hold minimal office hours. In all, he was at "work" for 20 hours max on a bad week. Add to that the fact he was off for the summer, and the break between semesters. HAHA though cause now he works a 9 to 5 like everyone else.

The typical response.

I, along with most people also work a ridiculous amount of hours compared to a low salary and considering the workload. Whoop dee doo. And no teacher I've ever known spends a considerable amount of their own money on supplies.

Anyways, that'll be all on the teacher subject as this was not what the thread was about.
