Static/dust buildup inside of plexiglass...
JLR2000:
Not sure if anyone else has had to deal with this....I need to remove the plexiglass from my homebuilt cab due to the buildup of dust "spots" on the inside, between where the plexiglass and TV screen are. My cab is coming up on 1 year old this summer and I've noticed that the dust spots on the inside are getting so bad that I need to open it up and clean it (not easy to do). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has had this happen and if there are any products I can use to help prevent it. Thanks for your input...
ArcadeFX:
Mine does the same thing. My plexi is pretty easy to remove so I did not think it was a big deal. I don't think there is much you can do about it since the static is always gonig to be generated by the monitor. Is there any way you can modify your cabinet to allow easy access for cleaning?
Dave_K.:
You should be cleaning your monitor and plexiglass with anti-static cleaner (made especially for monitors). Otherwise you may build up a small charge on the plexi which can cause problems with your monitor. By using the anti-static cleaner, I noticed it still collects dust, but not as quickly.

what if you actually sealed up that gap pretty good so no dust could get in there?

Try using a wood cleaner spray like Pledge found in the US and Canada (maybe elswhere also). It's a spray cleaner and wax made for wood but when buffed is completly transparent.
Many people that have glasses use this stuff to clean them, it works better than antistatic/antifog glass cleaners.
