Web software for hosting images
shmokes:
I would like to create a section of my website where there are various links to categories of images. As many of you know, I just got back from France and not only did I take a lot of pictures, but I was with quite a few other students who also got some great shots. I want to put a link on my website for each student and when you click the link, have all of their pictures accessible, preferably thumbnails that can be clicked on for the full-size picture.
But there are way too many pictures to set this up individually, so I'm hoping that there is web software available that will allow me to just dump all the pictures in a directory and the software will pick it up and display the thumbnails. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Free would be a plus. :)
ChadTower:
Take a peek at what Joymonkey has here. Not sure if he set that up himself or if it's a paid host but the software sounds like what you want.

Warning: thread hi-jack.
How was the Paris thing?

I've been wanting to try out Menalto Gallery to use personally. Seems to be the hot gallery opensource software of the moment.
For clients I mostly used the galleries built into software like Nuke and Joomla. If you don't need a portal that's overkill though.
Indeed how was France? maybe more important: parlez vous Français?
ChadTower:
If you have it, Photoshop creates galleries from a directory of images with only a few clicks.
