Holy crap this is hot!   Great work  :notworthy:

I love the thumbpad/thumbstick idea.    Anybody know of someplace in the US that these can be picked up?

Also, what about Nintendo64 thumbsticks?  They seem to be all over ebay but seem to have some kind of harness.  Anybody know if they're just an 8-way joystick that could be used for something like this?  They seem to have six wires coming out of them.  Or are they actually analog? (I'm not a N64 owner)

I wonder if something like these would work:

DealExtreme Link

Seems like they'd be mighty cool.  They even come in different colors if you look around the site..  I wonder if you could hook them to an A-Pac..?

This is the first time I've seen this thread...

:censored: This is criminal. You need to go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

How you guys manage to
A) Come up with such original ideas, AND
B) Pull off the woodwork/wiring/etc to actually build it, AND
C) Top it off with awesome artwork/plexi/versatile outputs etc...

... is beyond me...

No matter how good I get at A & B, my projects ALWAYS fall short of looking professional because of C. Just last week I spent 10 hours on a piece of artwork only to print it and be totally dissapointed with it (and it was mis-aligned just to make things worse). I can't even get the plexi down without freakin fingerprints and static-collected dust everywhere.

its just not fair  :hissy:

Seriously, well done... and a great idea.  :)

Sorry, but I'm .. :censored:

S.h.i. .. You almost manage to make an old man blush  :-[ Thanks for the kind words!

Sorry. A long time coming this answer, but no, I don't have the pictures with me at the moment (at the moment, heh..). I've pictures of the build and the final "product" somewhere ..I'll add few of them in the next couple of weeks if anyone would still like to see them..

Thanks for the kind words!
Can't help with the thumbstick problem, sorry. Arcadeshop is the only place where I've seen those thumbsticks (with microswitches) so far..
Actually, how much would it cost if you ordered one from http://www.arcadeshop.de ? Did you go "far enough" with your order to see the actual amount they quoted including shipping fees etc.?

Anyway, that thumbstick/-joystick you posted a picture of (Nintendo 64) seems to be of the kind that could be quite easily incorporated into.. yeah, another future project :) Analog yes, but might work anyway ..Star Wars with a thumbstick controller  ;D

jfunk
More analog controls. Still, why wouldn't they work? And they're cheap. Those Nintendo 64 controls seem to be better suited for arcade builds (they seem easier to install ..neatly) for in the end it's the finishing details that really matter...............

dmworking247
I'd have needed that $200 to build something new as soon as I'll get out of jail...
Heh :)
Thank you for your (too) kind comments
I've a secret: patience & planning ahead... Do NOT tell anyone.

Back to the drawing board..

"I like this Juke and think i am going to copy this."
- Wow! Cool !  :dunno

As for your question of "How do you get inside if there is a problem." Well, the control panel is held in place with 4 screws only and the cables are either detachable (most) or left long enough to easily take the CP aside for maintenance. ..so, no problems there.

Actually, if I was building / designing this now, I'd add hinges -and maybe some kind of catches- to the CP (jukebox side) bottom. That way you wouldn't need more than two screws to hold the CP in place and maintenance would be even easier..? Attach the hinges under the CP and no-one will ever know they even exist (with the angled "bottom panel").

Good luck with your build and remember to post pictures
