Wedding Reception Music?

<< < (2/9) > >>

ChadTower:

Holy Christ that's all the crap that make wedding receptions suck.  Play something people actually want to listen to, anything really, doesn't matter what... but trust me, no one ever actually chooses to listen to the Macarena or the Electric Slide.

lanman31337:
but that's the thing, you have a huge diverisity of people at the wedding, you can't please each and every one of them.  every one i've been to, people like the line dances like the electric slide and the macarena, especially the women folk.

ChadTower:

You don't have to please everyone.  You have to please the wedding party.  It's their party.  They paid for it, it is to celebrate their wedding, and they should have what they consider fun.  It's not about pervy uncle herb and his 350lb behemoth of a wife being offended by a little Welcome to the Jungle.

I can't agree more.  My wife and I got married 5 years ago and paid for the wedding ourselves.  We filled out lists for the DJ of songs that we definitely wanted to hear and songs that we absolutely didn't want to hear.

It may sound selfish, but when we were filling out the lists we didn't have anyone in mind but ourselves.

We banned all the 'traditional' songs like the Chicken Dance, Macarana, Hokey Pokey, etc...  And I added a few Rob Zombie songs to the must hear list!  If people didn't like the songs, tough!

ChadTower:

We did the list thing too.  The DJ thoroughly ignored the list and played all the traditional crap we didn't want to hear.  I think we heard every song Meatloaf ever recorded.
