Help me build a MAME computer

XtraSmiley:
Hey guys, I'm building a new computer for my MAME cab and so far I have these parts:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811129015

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822136074

I need help picking out a CPU, Mobo and RAM.

The Mobo does not need to be SLI but it must use PCIe for the video card due to the AVGA card I wil be using.  It must also be able to use SATA and PATA harddrives.

I think at least 1 gig, but 2 gig of generic RAM or cheaper RAM is fine as I will NOT be overclocking the system.

I'd like to stick to Core Duo or C2D as well, but my budget is around $400-500 for everything (not including the video card).  The two things I picked above are because I think the case will hold up well, it comes with a PSU and it has free shipping which alwasy seems to be close to $15 on cases.  The HD is cheap as well, has plenty of space and has free shipping.  So, can you guys help me finish this system?

If you are building a MAME cab the computer case is extra baggage IMHO.  Choose your MB first then get the PS to power it up.  The HD you chose should do you fine.  There is no need to get the top of the line processor a mid range will work.  Save your money for the RAM as MAME is memory intensive.

Tiger Direct has some good deals.  Here is one that will more than do for your needs and right in your price range.  Though you might want to get another gig of RAM.  Any parts that you don't need, like the DVD RW and Flash Card reader could be stripped out and added to another computer you may have.

Thanks for the tips.

Here is the RAM I was looking at:

It's 2 gig for $80.  As for the case, I'm going to need it so it needs to stay.  Anyone else with suggestions?

The link I pointed you to comes with a case.  It is a refurbished computer that should do you nicely.  But it is up to you.

Thanks, it's a good link, but I think I can build a better one for cheaper with better specs.  I've also heard that Tiger is NOT a good place to buy from, where as Newegg is great.

Still, I will check it out.  I think C2D is still the way I want to go, so no AMD.  Can someone recommend a good C2D mobo?
