The correct procedure is to immediately disable code and remove any files that potentially puts the visitor at risk. The author could have relocated all the zip files to ensure that they don't carry payloads. However, a ~600 byte file is a known file size from a particular class of virus. It scans your hard drive and destroys files with a specific extension, usually mp3, but it's known to attack .doc, .txt, .zip, jpg, amongst others. Change the extension, IIRC, it's either HTML or plain text with a message that basically amounts to, "you got screwed." It's not a virus I've seen in a long long time though, not since Kazaa was still free. I can't download the .zip file to verify what I wrote though, I just get a "Server not found" error. Oh well. :badmood: |
