Yeah, guy told me my cab was completely gutted, no pcb, no monitor, nothing except the coin mech and controls, when I went to mine up. Turns out, everything is there except part of the controls and the monitor. Even discovered an extra board for a different game just hanging out.
This guy might know what he's talking about though. Is that the back of another cab in the photo?
knave:
Wow...now I'm really torn. There are a few reasons why I shouldn't buy it...but there is lots to consider why I should. Am I going to find another midway cab in the future?...it's not like they are as common as dynamo's.
Anyhow...the guy actualy has a few cabs for sale. Seems like an op. or service tech or whatever. So yeah he has lots of cabs. The thing is I'm not sure he's ever opened this cab himself...He could have just bought it empty so who knows what I'll find.
In this case though I'm pretty sure it has no board or monitor and the harness and PS are questionable. The rest should be there.
What I don't know is if there's any damage, rot, cracks, mold, rat droppings etc...
If I'm going to go down there I'll ask before I go. At least for damage...
So correct me if I'm wrong...I think these cabs are kinda Rare...Do they show up all the time? I've seen only one other cheep Pac-man cab since I've been looking...and it was further away.
Is 90 minutes too far to go to pay ~$80 for an sorta empty cab. (after gas and one bridge toll.
Should I wait for a "real" Galaxian cab? :dunno
Chris G:
I know gas isn't cheap these days, but maybe you can just think of it as a road trip. Make a day of it and find something else to do in that area? Then if the cabinet doesn't work out, you won't feel like it was a complete waste.

90 minutes and you guys are saying "no-go" ?!?
Sheesh... gotta love where you live...
The closest arcade to where I live is just over an hour of freeway driving from the house, and the next closest is another 2.5hrs on top of that. Anything within 3hrs driving each way would be fair game up here...

Excellent idea there.
Ok, think of it this way.
How much would that cab cost you to build?
Your labour to build? $20+ per hour? 2 days? 16 hours @ $20 per hour = 320.
Materials for cabinet? 50+ easily.
Metal control panel? 20+
Marquee? 20+
Glass bezel? 20+
Coin door? 20+
Now add all that up and subtract from the already built Ms Pac.
Now tell me its not worth it.
Spend that 16 hours with your kids (if you have any).
Take the advice Chris G and throw the kids/wife/partner in the truck and make a day of it.
Don't listen to the old ---daisies--- telling you its too far.
Hit the road jack!
