What is the legality of this? Do the mod chips include any copyrighted material such as BIOS firmware? |

Pretty much all of the Wii modchips are actually drive-chips. So, no copyrighted info in them. Last I checked, they were being sold in the US legally. They have legitimate uses (such as being able to buy and play Japanese games, or play gamecube homebrew). Nintendo made a bad decision in region-locking the Wii, so a lot of people are getting them solely for that reason. |

And after modding mine last weekend, I noticed the complete lack of "remove this sticker removes your warranty" stickers. I'm kinda curious if I voided my warranty... or if they could really do anything legally about it... but great for backing up titles for those who have kids who treat dvds like crap.. |
