Scamming IS work
saint:
I have a suggestion where you could have put this thread but as this is EE and I'm supposed to show a bit more decorum than that I'll refrain ...
KenToad:
Yeah, I thought this was going to be a thread with an ironic story in the beginning, about how hard someone tried to scam you or something.
Instead, it's another shorthair fortune cookie, except this time without even enough loaded language to get the trolls out from under their bridges.
I'll bite. Even if scamming is work, you haven't made the necessary logical step to it being "the same as any kind of retail thing." So, if you have something to say, it's not there yet.
But, I think you're trying to make the point that retail consumerism, in its worst form, i.e. compulsive and/or motivated by marketing in a consumer society that overvalues material goods, is as bad as scamming somebody.
It's a stretch, don't you think?

HAHAHAHAHA...saint, it's your place, you could've just PH'd it. But that's very neighborly of you.
Ken, yeah. I mean, a lot of people (I think the younger folk) like this illusion of being showered with goodies. I stay away from TV and ads in general cos I don't want to know unless I wanna know, which ain't often. It's the same to me: you want my money by coercion.
