Someone's about to lose their jobs
ChadTower:
Words on being cosmically functional from a man only partially functional.

Hey shorthair - leave the south out of this, ok. Really. Or at least don't make generalizations. (probably a :censored: Yankee). ;D
I agree with the fact the kid will face far worse than BBM, but most of us in the south are fairly well educated - sadly - to the ways of the world. However, that sub needs to understand that NOTHING that happens in his/ her class is sacred these days.
Second of all, this is total BS that the principal didn't fire those idiots in TN on the spot. I keep saying, and get closer to believing, it's all about who you know, NOT what you know that will keep your job for you in this business called education.

Of course...as our definitions differ.
RTS: It's not a matter of education, but of mode: many appear conservative in attitude, vs conservative in methodology and visionary in outlook.

If they get in a bind and they haven't the gumption, etc, then that's how the ball rolls.

So at 11 yrs old, you would have gone after this guy, or while the adults were all acting like this was real you would have sat there and laughed it off?
Somehow I don't think so.

Actually, I think I wouldn'tve been the only boy not freaked by this. A lot of kids' parents in my neighborhood had guns and the kids fought a bit. I got into my share of fights. Once, when I was in soccer, this ref we had - who happened to be the father of a kid on the other team...can we say conflict of interest?! - was bein a dick to me. I almost went up to him and kicked him in the ---smurfing--- nards. There are times, occasionally, I wish I had. I was only afraid of adults if there was a need. If it became a power struggle*, I played till the end, however final.
* like with my fifth grade teacher who had caught some of us eating cool-aid in class and assigned 200 times to write 'I will not eat in class', and it went up 200 more each day, and I basically thought he could get ---fouled up beyond all recognition---, though the others who hadn't finished the first day caved in and made up whatever amount they'd progressed to in their delay...I came in the following monday and looked on the board to see whether it was set to 1000....well, it was gone. I didn't even turn in my initial, I think it was, 120. He later acted like nothing had happened.
