Help wiring a Shaffner power entry module
(1/2) > >>

I purchased a few of these thinking they were going to be like my last power entry modules.

They have many more plugs and I'm not sure how to wire them. I am going to connect it to a power strip that has a white, green and black cable. I'm not real good with electricity so I need this explained to me in simple terms.

I want to set the computer to turn on when it gets power. I want to use the on/off switch on the power entry module to act as a switch for the cabinet.

Here is what I'm guessing

Here is the circuit diagram from the data sheet and a physical terminal identification diagram.

Based on this info.

1.  Terminals you have labeled wire to power strip are correct.
      N=Neutral P=Power or Line and E=Earth/Ground

2.  It will work without fuses but would be safer if you wired them into the circuit in line with the N and P before they go to the power strip.

3. I cannot see if you have a 2 pole or 1 pole switch.   There is one terminal that looks like it is missing in the picture.   Is there a terminal at the bottom left part of the switch is it covered by your switch box wiriting or is it physically missing?

In either case 1 pole or 2 pole you can wire it up to provide power by attaching one end of the switch to the P terminal and the other to your cab. Ther neutral would not be switched if you have a 1 pole switch.   If a 2 pole switch then you can switch the neutral as well.   With a one pole switch the neutral would be wired from the N terminal directly to the neutral of your cab.

It's a 2 pole - the red line covers up the other terminal.

Let me draw up how I think it'll run and you let me know if I'm thinking right.
