Where do I get a box for the Flux Capacitor?

Hello all,

I've seen some use an electrical enclosure or perhaps a electric meter enclosure.  It's very heavy gauge and gray.  You can buy a 100 or 125 amp sub-panel from your local hardware store for under $25.  You'd have to remove the bus assembly and cut away the front cover to open it up a bit.  A dremel would not be up to this task entirely.  Be careful as there will many sharp edges that can rip you open.

You can get boxes in two styles -

Flush mount, where the box would be installed between studs and the front cover would be flush with the drywall.  The edges will over hang the sides of the box by 1 or 2 inches.

Non flush mount, where the box just has a cover.  Sorta like the one you'd install on a wall in the garage or something.

I'm glad I found this forum.  This is my first post here.  I was given a Frogger arcade by my neighbor and now it's already started taking control of my time.  :)  Having a few problems with it, but that's another thread.

Good luck,

Phil

You'd have to incorporate that futuristic bar-code license plate somehow - or at least the one that said "outatime"

That's a tall order, even for obsessives like us.

You can apply thin sheet metal using contact cement just like laminate.  If you use aluminum you can even use your router to trim it flush (just remember to use wax lube on the router bit frequently.)  Outside of the cost the biggest difficulty of doing this is that even the smallest speck of dust under the metal will look like a huge shiny bump in the middle of your nice flat surface.  We just laminated several platforms at work using brushed aluminum last week.

As soon as I posted I thought of a potential place for the license plate, and a less blatant name than "Back to the Future" for the cabinet.  Do the Marquee with art based on the license plate and just call the cab "Outa Time."
