Need tips on gutting a cab

Hi all. I am getting ready to gut my Tempest cab (currently a Shadow Dancer). I have not done this before, so any tips on removing all the components (monitor, pcb, etc) would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

(Obligitory "DON'T SAW UP A TEMPEST CABINET" post.)

As far as your question: Uh, most of the stuff is screwed in or bolted somehow, isn't it?  So unscrewing and unbolting?

SirPoonga:

got pics of the cabinet?

Magnet_Eye:

no pics, but i will....

i won't saw anything. i would like to restore it to Tempest one day. who knows.

anyway, just curious. I was worried about removing the arcade monitor and stuff, but i guess it will be ok. i then have to eBay all that crap.  :P

paigeoliver:

Be careful around the monitor neck. And also, discharge the monitor unless it has been off for at least a week. If you don't know how to discharge the monitor, or are too scared to do it, then un plug the machine, and wait a week.

Handle the monitor by the frame and you will be fine.

Since you game is a conversion, your wiring harness is going to be pretty much worthless. I wouldn't bother trying to save it for ebay. Instead keep the wires and connectors to use for yourself.

Also. Building a Tempest from an empty cabinet will probably cost about 50 to 100 percent more than buying a nice working Tempest. (That is pretty much true for any vector, as tested working vector monitors usually sell for about 70-90 percent of what the game they go in is worth).
